Mellisa Ricks on Jake Cuenca

Melissa Ricks chose to be a little mysterious when she was asked if she would be attending the annual Star Magic Ball with a date. “Pero I’m going to the Star Magic Ball to have fun,” she continued. Last year, Melissa came with then boyfriend Jake Cuenca. This year, Jake will be bringing his leading lady Lovi Poe.
The star of Nasaan Ka Elisa? said that she’s okay if her ex-boyfriend brings along Lovi. “That’s not my business naman pero sana may konting respeto siya.”
When prodded if she was still in communication with Jake, Melissa said it has been five months since they broke up and people should move on from the issue. “Dapat mag-enjoy lang tayo sa buhay, na-realize ko hindi talaga dapat nagdu-dwell sa mga things that hurt you, the things that aren’t good for you, so dapathappy ka lang talaga,” she explained.
She continued that she is not holding a grudge against Jake after they broke up. “Hindi naman ako ‘yung tipo ng tao na nagho-hold ng grudge. Hindi ako ‘yung taong parang I would talk bad about someone, hindi ako ‘yung ganong tao. Pero ang sa akin lang ‘yung respetong ibinibigay ko sa ‘yo, ibigay mo rin sa akin.
“Diskarte niya ‘yun sa buhay, eh. Kung ‘yun ang gusto niyang gawin, sige, go. Basta ako ayokong manakit ng ibang tao. Alam mo ‘yung okay lang ‘yung lahat. Ayoko ng kaaway I’d like to be his friend (pero) magiging friendko siya ‘pag may respeto siya.”
When asked to explain what she meant by being respected by Jake, Melissa replied, “Rumispeto, alam na niya ‘yon. I don’t want to tell the world kung ano ang nangyari basta ang akin, respeto dahil may respeto din ako sa kanya.”
Although she is now single, Melissa explained that she is not in a hurry to get into another relationship. “Alam n’yo ang relationship para sa akin hindi ka dapat nangongolekta, hindi ka dapat nanloloko ng ibang tao. When you feel it and you’re ready, it’s a lifetime commitment. It’s not a commitment na now lang [or] for a couple of months. When you’re with somebody, you see your future with them. Ako I’m not pressured to find anyone. If that person comes along, sige pero right now I’m not into dating. Ayoko ng mga ganyan muna. Magko-concentratemuna ako sa work ko.
